Rassmussen Daily Dem Tracking Poll

The Rassmussen polling company publishes a daily tracking poll of the Democratic (and Republican, but who cares) primary race. Unlike other such polls, this one displays the actual daily numbers as opposed to occasionally letting you know what the current state of the race is. You can see those numbers in tabular form here.

(Rass only publishes the numbers for the top three Democrats, but does anyone other their most rabid fans think that Dodd, Biden, Kucinich, Gravel, or Schlumwallinger has a realistic chance of winning the nomination?)

It's hard to get an overall feeling for the numbers when they're displayed in that format, so I decided to put them in a spreadsheet and generate simple line graphs. The result is here.

I'm planning to keep updating that graph with the new Rassmussen numbers every day, so anyone who's interested can follow the bouncing ball of our national destiny at that link.

I think I'll also put a link to that graphic on the side.

Gore is really my man, but I'm beginning to think that he won't run. In the meantime, I'm backing Edwards, and I'm getting more and more comfortable with that choice as Edwards gets more and more populist. So I'm hoping to see the Edwards line keep rising. Right now, it's happening sloooowly, but it does seem to be happening - but over the short term, so far.

What about Obama do you not like?

I would like Gore, but I'm beginning to believe he has a life calling outside of the government. He's really doing well and thriving, and making a difference... but yes I would prefer Gore as well.

I'm not sure between Obama or Edwards. It's too early for me to commit, though I can say I'm probably not going to go for Clinton.

I hate to say it, but it looks pretty consistent for Clinton vs. Thompson. What a nightmare.

Interesting stuff.

At this point I have no frotn runner as to who I'll vote for.

Msot likely Texas will go republican in the general election anyway.

I'm still mad Kinky Freidman didn't win our last Gubenatorial race.

Yus! I are writing! Cuz I always wanted to be a writer, and now I are one!

I'm finding myself in an odd state that I always seem to enter during the last stages of a book -- where everything else fades away, and the book and finishing it are all I can think of. I actually expect to finish by my meaningless, self-imposed deadline, which is to say, my birthday, which is a week from tomorrow.

I don't dislike Obama or Clinton. I just don't trust them to reestablish separation of church and state, and I really like Edwards' populism. I think he's what we need to undo the damage, not just of the Dubya years but going all the way back to that megaturd, Reagan.

But, yeah, it doesn't look good. The latest polls from Iowa even show Clobama moving into the joint lead there and Edwards fading. Ugh.
